With the execution of funding transfer between the State Government and CoGG, there are several projects within the Reserve Master Plan that can now proceed in earnest.

Firstly, the projects that impact PFNC:

• REPLACEMENT OF MAIN OVAL FENCING

This venture will be undertaken by local provider, Think Fencing. We are hoping the works will commence after our Anzac Day fixture with completion in approximately 4 weeks. There will be some disruption on oval usage over this time.

• PAVILION REFURBISHMENT

This project can now proceed to tender for the upgrade of change rooms, provision of secure umpire / officials change rooms, additional storage & medical areas, and an upgrade of showers/toilets area to include gender neutral provisions.Work should commence October 2024 with completion by March 2025.

• UPGRADE TO ENTRANCE OF RESERVE & CAR PARK AREA

Design has now been finalised by user groups to modernize that entrance with a new ticket box set up, 2 in / 1 out point of access. The car park will provide 75 spaces, safe pedestrian walkways, appropriate tree & shrub areas.

Other projects that will now proceed, include:

• Upgrade of Cricket practice nets – Portarlington Cricket Club

• Additional storage & display shed for the Agriculture Society.

PFNC is also investigating the upgrade of our main oval lights to the standard required for AFL approved twilight/night games.

Together with the recent installation of electronic scoreboards for both netball and football, mini grandstand & refurbished coaching boxes at netball, new honour board digital system & memorabilia cabinets in main function room and a decent refresh of Timekeeper/Scoreboard room including Vagg Room, all the above provides a sporting precinct to rival all others.

Whilst all these works are undertaken there will be disruptions to our normal processes, on & off the court/field – unfortunately we must accept and cope with any difficulties that may arise – the benefits are huge.
