2024 Season Launch

2024 sees The Portarlington Football Netball Club celebrating 150 years since its formation in 1874. This is a significant event in the history of Australian Rules Football, the Club being the first football club on the Bellarine Peninsula, and predating most existing AFL clubs.

The Season 150 Launch was held on 15th March at the Portarlington Golf Club, where all levels of government were represented, as well as players, sponsors and supporters.

The event was MC’d by the Golf Club’s Mark Hayes, who, along with speakers Edward Wilson from AFL Barwon, Ali Wastie CEO of CoGG, Trent Sullivan Mayor and Steve Cogger President of PFNC, emphasized the importance of the local communities of Portarlington, Indented Head and St Leonards in the continued existence of the Club through player participation, membership, sponsorship and community support.

The Club intends to celebrate 2024 season as a milestone event and place significant emphasis on its 150 years of existence, but also to remain focused on the future by becoming competitive and meaningful across all grades of netball and football, with particular emphasis on continuing development of junior groups and junior programs.

In this way the Club gives back to the community which has supported them for 150 years.
